讨价还价-ed

Long time no blog. I would love to blog about what's been happening between my last post and this one, but lets leave it at that shall we?

So, woke up at 12 today, tried to do EOM till 2. Obviously failed. So went out with 2 of my room mates to have lunch, at 3 p.m. K.F.C again. I've lost count of the number of times I've eaten K.F.C for the past month or so.

Anyway went to Fairprice later to replenish my food storage which was drying up. 20 bucks worth of snacks. WHOA.... Walked past a stall selling bags, one caught my eye. So I asked the uncle to let me take a look at it. 45 bucks, I was like wtf. I told him I'd think about it, so went shopping for groceries first.

When I went back , I planned to use chinese to 讨价还价 with the uncle. Obviously with 2 Indonesian room mates and me looking the least bit like a chinese, it was the best chance I had to convince the dude to lower his asking price. Armed with courage and a merit grade for my chinese oral exam, I 讨价还价-ed.


Me: Uncle, 可以35块吗?

Uncle: 35 块不可以. 不 如 38 块. 你让一步我让一步.

Me: 这样可以 check 先吗?

Uncle: 可以.

So obviously I checked the bag to make sure that it was in perfect condition, and it was. So 38 bucks for a bag which was originally 45 bucks. Looks like chinese is useful after all....所谓尺有所短, 寸有所长; 物有所不足, 智有所不明.


Have no idea why I added the idiom. Makes me look pro in chinese.
